Better Than Boxed Brownies

This is easier and tastier than boxed brownies! One of my favorite recipes!

Better Than Boxed Brownies

For the brownies…

10 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

1 cup white granulated sugar

2 large eggs

2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips, melted

1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 teaspoon salt

3/4 cup white all-purpose flour

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

For the frosting…

6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

1/4 teaspoon salt

3 cups powdered sugar

2 tablespoons whole milk

Start by preheating your oven to 350 degrees F. Line a 9-inch square baking pan with parchment paper and spray with non-stick cooking spray containing flour.

In a large bowl whisk together the melted unsalted butter with the sugar until light and creamy.

Whisk in the large eggs and pure vanilla extract.

Whisk in the melted chocolate, unsweetened cocoa powder and salt.

Fold in the white all-purpose flour.

Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips.

Pour batter into the prepared pan and smooth out the top.

Bake, in preheated oven, for 30 minutes.

Remove and let cool before frosting.

To make the frosting combine the melted unsalted butter with the unsweetened cocoa powder.

Beat in the pure vanilla extract and salt.

Beat in the powdered sugar with a splash of milk.

The consistency should be smooth and spreadable.

If too thick, add a little more milk. If too thin, add a little more powdered sugar.
