Loretta’s Favorite Dog Treats

Blaise Doubman

Over the years I have shared a few recipes for dog treats but none has been any easier than the recipe I am sharing with everyone today. It is literally only 2 ingredients! I am dedicating this recipe to Loretta. She has lived an exciting and interesting life at only 3 years old and is one of the sweetest dogs you will ever meet. She loves to run and play and lick. She also enjoys mischievous things which she is trying to out grow. She is also super friendly with cats and considers her best friend one named Sam. A lot of people think that making dog treats or dog biscuits is hard or complicated but it really is not. You just have to do a little research.

Of course you do not want to give your dog anything that will harm it, so before making anything for your favorite furry friend, contact your veterinarian to make sure your dog does not have any allergies or food sensitivities. Different breeds of dogs can differ with that so it is always better to be safe than sorry. Dog palates can sometimes be like human palates too. Just because I like caviar on a Dorito’s chip, does not mean everyone will! So, dogs are the same. Some dogs like peanut butter, while some do not. Some like lamb over chicken, whereas some like beef over chicken or lamb. In the process of getting to know your dog, you will get to know their specific tastes as well. I have found most dogs like this recipe so bake it and share with all around!

Leftovers should be kept in an air tight container and up to 2 weeks.

2 cups whole wheat flour

8oz sweet potato puree

Start by preheating your oven to 350 degrees F. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a large bowl combine the whole wheat flour and sweet potato puree. This will take a little time but it will combine. If it is super thick and not working out, add a tablespoon or two of water.

On a clean and floured work surface, roll the dough out to about 1/2-inch thickness.

Use a cookie cutter, cut shapes from the dough and place onto prepared baking sheet.

Bake, in preheated oven, for 23 minutes, until golden brown.

Remove and allow to cool completely before giving to your favorite furry friend.
