Little Dogs in a Blanket

Blaise Doubman

Everyone loves “Pigs in a Blanket” right? You know, the hot dogs wrapped in croissant dough and then baked in the oven? Well, these are “Little Dogs in a Blanket”, which are the smaller and different form of their big brother. These are little smokies wrapped in dough and they are really delicious! Some people raise their eyebrows at such a thing but I am telling you, I make these for a party when entertaining and they are one of the first things to go! Everyone may not want to admit their love for this childhood favorite but it is very obvious when serving them.

This recipe is foolproof and versatile. I like the thought of adding cheese to the inside before rolling up but you can sprinkle over the top just as well. I also like the idea of having some sort of dipping sauce when serving these. Perhaps some homemade honey mustard, hot sauce or some homemade ranch?

Little Dogs in a Blanket

1 refrigerated roll croissant dough

1 package little smokies, precooked

1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese

Start by preheating your oven to 375 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and spray with non-stick cooking spray.

Cut the pieces of croissant dough in half so that you will ha ve enough for the little smokies. You can do this with scissors.

Once you have enough, start wrapping the smokies up into the little prepared croissant dough pieces that you made earlier. This part does not have to be professional. Just make sure the dough is wrapped around each smoky and secured pretty well.

Sprinkle the cheddar cheese inside or outside of the smokies.

Bake, in preheated oven, for 17 minutes.

Remove and enjoy!
