CHEW THIS! Disgustingly Rich Brownies

Disgustingly Rich Brownies

When my cousins and I were little, we would always thumb over my Grandma Barbra’s cookbooks and pick out something that we really thought looked and sounded good for her to try and make for us. Usually the recipes came from a couple of different cookbooks but I remember one recipe for brownies that came from a children’s cookbook that we used over and over again. I can not remember for anything the title of the book but I can still see and feel the super thick pages right this minute. The front was red and white checkered. I think the brand was “Klutz”. That brand was super popular at the time and had books on rocks, magic, painting and things of that nature. 

This recipe is titled the exact same thing that I remember those brownies being called. I remember us thinking it was so funny that these were called “Disgustingly Rich” Brownies. Are they? Yes but I do not think I would call them “Disgustingly Rich”. They are rich but in a deliciously delightful way. If you think they are to rich, you could always do the Dolly Parton method of thinking and add a little ice cream with them to “cut the sweetness”. 

Disgustingly Rich Brownies

2 sticks unsalted butter, melted
2 cups white granulated sugar
3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
4 large eggs
1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/4 cups white all-purpose flour

Start by preheating your oven to 350 degrees F. Line a 9×9-inch square baking pan with aluminum foil and spray with non-stick cooking spray containing flour.

In a large bowl combine the melted unsalted butter, white granulated sugar and unsweetened cocoa powder.

Beat in the large eggs, one at a time.

Beat in the pure vanilla extract and salt.

Gently fold in the white all-purpose flour.

Pour into prepared pan and smooth out the top. Bake in preheated oven for 40 minutes.

Remove and cool before cutting.
