The Perfect Deviled Egg, Reconstructed…
I love deviled eggs and will eat them just about any way that they are served to me. I love them with caviar on top, mini shrimp, salmon or even toasted pine nuts. There is just something about a deviled egg that is old-fashioned and delicious. Even though the concept of deviled eggs are “old-fashioned” that does not mean they are not modern food. This side dish has been elevated to bring itself into the modern world. Rachael Ray has some of the best deviled egg recipes online, be sure to check those out. I have a few on my website, my favorite one being a recipe for my dear friend, Phyllis Arnett, who passed away several years ago.
This recipe can easily be doubled or even tripled. This recipe is a little different than your typical recipe for deviled eggs. This recipe is “deconstructed” meaning that we will not be mixing anything together in a bowl but instead, layering the ingredients on top of one another, until the egg is finished. It really makes for a uniquely different way of eating these and I think really makes a difference with the flavor too. You can really taste each ingredient and therefore really appreciate the overall flavors.
