Iced Angel Food Cake

Sometimes, not always, I like a dessert that is a little “light” if you will. And I am not talking about calories, or flavor for that matter, I am talking about sometimes wanting a dessert after a big meal that does not feel like another big meal. Do you know what I mean? My first thought, when wanting a dessert like that, is angel food cake. My Great Grandma Flora used to make angel food cake but other than her, nobody in my family really ever did. I think my Grandma Barbra might have attempted one one time but it failed. It would not come out of the pan after cooling. She even cooled it upside down like you are supposed to but it still did not turn out right. I think even the texture was off. It was sort of “sticky”.

If you are going to make a homemade version of the angel food cake to try and frost, just make sure you find a reliable recipe and follow it exactly. They also have angel food cake, cake mixes in the store if something like that would be more comfortable for you. Or, hey for that matter, I have done this myself, go to the bakery and buy an angel food cake! Then you can take it home, whip up this frosting and ice it! It is so good! You can add any flavor to the frosting you want too. I have made lemon, raspberry, cherry, blueberry and orange. All of them are delicious and easy!
